Rostec: Reports on suspension of exploitation of SSJ100s incorrect

MOSCOW, Apr 18 (PRIME) -- The media reports about possible suspension of exploitation of Sukhoi Superjet 100 (SSJ100) in Russia is incorrect, state industrial corporation Rostec said in a statement on Monday.

Earlier on Monday, RBC business newswire reported quoting a letter of airline IrAero CEO Yury Lapin to Irkutsk Region’s Governor Igor Kobzev that airlines that use SSJ100s are unable to ensure maintenance and repairs of the Russian-French aircraft engine SaM146, which could lead to suspension of exploitation of SSJ100s in the short term.

“Information about possible suspension of exploitation of Superjets in Russia is incorrect. We are doing everything possible together with the airlines so that they could use SSJ100s non-stop,” Rostec said.

The airlines should not have any problems with maintenance of the engines as Russia has almost everything necessary for repairs of the engines, inducing propulsion units. Rostec is baffled by the statement of IrAero as the company currently has no problems with its fleet and all SSJ100s of the carrier are in service.

“We are solving the problems caused by the sanctions, we have a clear understanding of further actions,” the corporation said.
